Dalaran Heist Balance Changes

We’ve made a number of balance adjustments to The Dalaran Heist. For details, see our forums post here.

Card Consistency Updates:

Pilfer: We’ve updated the card text and functionality for Pilfer to match the recent changes to other “Burgle” cards currently available in Standard.

  • Pilfer Old Text: Add a random card to your hand (from your opponent's class).
  • Pilfer Updated Text: Add a random card from another class to your hand.

Multi-Target Cards: We’ve updated the following multi-target cards to function even if there is only one viable target on the board. These cards will now also properly trigger when played by random effects such as Yogg’Saron.

  • Dark Bargain

  • Multishot
  • Forked Lightning

New Card Backs:

  • Elise’s Journal: Acquired from purchasing one of the Saviors of Uldum bundles.

Game Improvements & Bug Fixes

  • Matchmaking has been improved for players who are new to Arena mode. These players will be matched against other new players with the same number of wins.

  • Rafaam’s Scheme and Dreamway Guardians can no longer be played if your board is full.

  • Cards generated by Shadowcaster and Sonya Shadowdancer will now receive the bonuses from Magic Carpet.
  • Duel! can no longer be cast if both sides of the board are full.
  • Wilfred Fizzlebang's cost reduction now works with all card-drawing hero powers.
  • Shudderwock now randomly resolves any Discover spells cast by Drustvar Horror.
  • Fixed an issue where losing your internet connection while in the middle of editing a deck would sometimes not save the deck changes after you reconnected to the internet.
  • Creating Zayle and Whizbang decks should now properly show the card's deck header art instead of the class art.
  • [Mobile] Fixed an issue that could cause a blank page to appear if you changed regions while on the sign-in page..
  • [Dalaran Heist] Spirit of the Tiger now summons tigers with correct attack and health values while fighting in the Underbelly.
  • [Dalaran Heist] Cursed! cards from The Hand of Rafaam will now trigger their visual effects properly.
  • [Dalaran Heist] Hero cards that are transformed by Golden Candle will no longer retain their hero power tooltip.
  • [Dalaran Heist] Fixed an animation issue related to replaying minions affected by Bribery after they were destroyed.

Hearthstone Update – June 3 – Rise of the Mech

Today’s Hearthstone update adds a new neutral Legendary Minion, card buffs for every class, new Arena sets, and much more! Read on for details about the Rise of the Mech update.

Introducing SN1P-SN4P!

Make the most of the Rise of the Mech event by logging in anytime between June 3 and July 1 and you’ll earn a golden copy of the new neutral Legendary Mech SN1P-SN4P! Crash this clawed clunker into another Mech to build a behemoth of a bot, then do it again!

Missed the event? Normal SN1P-SN4P can still be crafted for the usual cost of 1600 Arcane Dust.

  • Important Note: SN1P-SN4P will be considered part of the The Boomsday Project and will rotate with that set, however SN1P-SN4P will NOT drop from The Boomsday Project card packs. Golden SN1P-SN4P will only be obtainable as part of the Rise of the Mech event, and the normal SN1P-SN4P can only be crafted with Arcane Dust.

Card Changes:

The terrible tinkerer Blastmaster Boom has been busy in the lab and has cooked up some buffs to cards from every class! For more details on these changes, including developer insights, check out the Rise of the Mech announcement blog here.

    • Beryllium Nullifier to 4/8 stats. (Up from 3/8)

Reckless Experimenter:

We’ve decided to make a change to how Reckless Experimenter functions due to an unwanted interaction with SN1P-SN4P that allows for an early-game infinite damage combo in Priest decks. We’re also aware of some interactions that SN1P-SN4P creates in Wild when played alongside multiple Mechwarpers, and we’ll be keeping a close eye on how that plays out over the next few weeks.

New Card Text: Reckless Experimenter – Deathrattle minions you play cost (3) less, but die at end of turn. (Cost can’t be reduced below 1.)

Players will be able to disenchant Reckless Experimenter for its full Arcane Dust value for two weeks.

Quality of Life Changes:

Reconnect Improvements:

  • Players who are disconnected from Hearthstone due to an unstable connection, switching applications, or by locking their mobile devices will no longer be directed back to the login/launch screen when attempting to reconnect.
  • The game will now seamlessly reconnect in the background from any screen, instead of only during gameplay. This includes during deck editing, or while browsing the Collection Manager.
    • Note: We are still improving this feature, and you may encounter some issues with the current version.
  • A new popup has been added to alert players of their offline/reconnect status.

Accessing Hearthstone Offline:

  • Players can now access their collection even when their device has lost connection to the Internet.
    • The following features of the Collection Manager can now be accessed while offline:
      • View owned and unowned cards in the collection
      • Create Decks
      • Edit Decks
      • Delete Decks
      • Rename Decks
      • Set Favorite Heroes
      • Set Favorite Cardbacks
      • Opening a pack that was in the process of being opened
    • Any changes made in the collection manager while offline will be saved on the player's device until the next time they regain network access. Note that some changes may be lost if a player creates multiple decks or edits the same deck simultaneously on multiple devices.

Matchmaking Improvements:

  • We've implemented a new feature to reduce chances of matching against the same player multiple times in a row. Some exceptions may occur when players have few matchmaking options near their rank.
  • Match quality has been improved for players in ranks 25 – 21, and they should now face more opponents of similar skill.

Arena Set Rotation

Blastmaster Boom needs more test subjects, and what better place to find them than the Arena? Starting with the Rise of the Mech update, the available cards in Arena drafts will be rotating to the following explosively exciting sets:

  • Classic
  • Basic
  • Goblins vs. Gnomes
  • The Grand Tournament
  • One Night in Karazhan
  • The Boomsday Project
  • Rise of Shadows

New Card Backs

  • Mark of the Shado-Pan – Earned from completing 5 matches during the July 2019 season.
  • Stolen Thunder – Earned by purchasing the Masters Bundle.

Game Improvements and Bug Fixes

  • Fixed several issues encountered when making changes to windowed mode, fullscreen mode, and when resizing the game.
  • Fixed a visual issue causing Flare to animate twice when drawing a Cast When Drawn card.
  • Fixed an issue causing the animation times for Kalecgos and Rebuke to play at a different speed from other similar effects.
  • The animation for Togwaggle's Scheme shuffling a high number of cards (5+) has been updated to shuffle in batches of 5 cards and at a higher speed.
  • Hadronox's Deathrattle animation no longer appears larger than intended when it triggers an opponent's Duplicate secret.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause Kabal Chemist to disconnect your opponent when played.
  • Playing Soularium and Plot Twist quickly together will no longer cause a visual issue.
  • Fixed an issue causing the game to freeze if Voidcaller is drawn at the start of your turn while Fel Lord Betrug and Spiritsinger Umbra are on your side of the board.
  • Triggering a secret that was transformed from Shifting Scroll or Chameleos no longer causes the client to lock up for both players.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause streaming data to stop downloading if the game's language was changed during the download process.
  • Fixed issue where the Collection Manager’s filters would not work for newly created accounts.
  • Fixed an issue where heroes would briefly display the banned banner in the collection manager.
  • Fixed an issue which would occasionally leave the screen blurry after finishing a game under certain circumstances.

Card Balance Update – May 22, 2019

After evaluating game data and working through internal and external feedback on the most popular decks currently in the meta, we’re looking to address the power level and overall pervasiveness of Rogue decks, alongside a specific interaction with Archivist Elysiana.

Card Changes:

  • Rogue:
    • EVIL Miscreant - Now has 4 Health. (Down from 5)
    • Raiding Party – Now costs 4 mana. (Up from 3)
    • Preparation – Now reads: The next spell you cast this turn costs (2) less.
  • Neutral:
    • Archivist Elysiana – Now costs 9 mana. (Up from 8)

As with previous card changes, players will be able to disenchant the updated cards for their full Arcane Dust value for two weeks.

Today’s Hearthstone update adds a whole new single-player adventure alongside game improvements and bug fixes. Read on for details!

New Single-player Adventure – The Dalaran Heist – Live on May 16!

A Dastardly Deed, Indeed:

Arch-Villain Rafaam has meticulously assembled a league of menacing and megalomaniacal supervillains to undertake his most audacious caper yet – stealing the magical city of Dalaran! As a low-level operative in Rafaam's League of E.V.I.L., you'll rampage through the streets and sewers of Dalaran ensuring that every part of the plan succeeds. Or, at the very least, you'll provide the distraction they need to accomplish their devious goals.

Here’s the Plan:

As with previous deckbuilding Solo Adventures, you'll choose a Hero and work your way through a gauntlet of increasingly difficult encounters, adding cards and powerful treasures to your deck with each win. If your Hero is defeated, you’ll lose the deck you've built and start over.

The Dalaran Heist allows players to unlock more ways to play than ever before. You’ll find more customization, more bosses to fight, and more ways to experience hijinks in the magical city!

  • Hero Loadouts: In addition to 9 playable Heroes, you can unlock new Hero Powers and Decks to be used in your quest to defeat the defenders of Dalaran.
  • Multiple Chapters: Starting this week with ‘Dalaran Bank’ and ‘The Violet Hold,’ the Solo Adventure will unfold in 5 chapters, each with its own rules, events, and unique encounters.
  • Friendly Encounters: Make changes to your Solo Adventure Deck with the help of a friendly tavernkeeper.
  • Anomaly Mode: Throw Dalaran into chaos by playing through a chapter with randomized special rules. Will it make it easier? Harder? The only guarantee is it'll be CRAZIER.
  • Heroic Mode: For card-core players only: Can you beat the ultimate versions of all the boss encounters?

Rise of Shadows – Launching April 9

Under the leadership of Arch-Villain Rafaam, notorious ne’er do-wells from across Hearthstone’s history have heeded the call and banded together under the decidedly unsubtle but exceptionally fitting moniker - the League of EV.I.L.!

After years working on their own and constantly being foiled, flustered, beaten, and bested, these masters of mischief have cooked up a scheme sure to bring them out of shame and into infamy! Their target? The magical floating city of Dalaran…

  • New Minions: Lackeys – Generated by EVIL cards that add Lackeys to your hand, Lackeys are 1/1 minions that, while lacking in terms of raw stats, have powerful Battlecry effects.
  • New Spells: Schemes – Schemes are powerful spells that become even more powerful the longer they stay in your hand.
  • New Keyword: Twinspell - Twinspells are spells that, once cast, create a copy of themselves in your hand to be used whenever you like.

Once Rise of Shadows launches, keep an eye on your quest log for a series of Legendary quests that will reward Rise of Shadows card packs along with card packs from other Year of the Dragon sets.

Year of the Dragon – The Year of the Dragon starts soon, meaning that we are waving a fond farewell to the Year of the Mammoth sets. Once Rise of Shadows launches on April 9, you will no longer be able to purchase packs from the Journey to Un’Goro, Knights of the Frozen Throne, and Kobolds & Catacombs expansions, and any cards from those expansions will no longer be playable in Standard game modes.

Arena Updates - With Rise of Shadows, the Arena will start a regular rotation of available cards from both new and older expansions. To kick things off, the available cards will have a decidedly… E.V.I.L. theme. Here’s which sets you’ll have access to when choosing cards in the Arena, starting April 9:

  • Basic
  • Classic
  • Naxxramas
  • Whispers of the Old Gods
  • Goblins vs. Gnomes
  • The Witchwood
  • Rise of Shadows

Hall of Fame – The following cards have been moved to the Hall of Fame on April 9:

  • Doomguard
  • Naturalize
  • Divine Favor
  • Baku the Mooneater
  • Genn Greymane
  • Gloom Stag
  • Black Cat
  • Glitter Moth
  • Murkspark Eel

Up to the maximum number of cards you could put in a deck, we will give you the full dust value of any cards you have that are being added to the Hall of Fame set. The dust will be automatically awarded upon log-in once the Year of the Dragon begins.

Shadow Bundle - Embrace the shadows and celebrate the launch of Hearthstone’s new expansion with this limited-time bundle, available from April 9 – 15.

  • Get 7 Rise of Shadows packs plus two bonus packs and one Arena Ticket bundle together. Don’t delay! This Bundle will disappear in the blink of an E.V.I.L. eye.

Upcoming Events – The tavern is lively this time of year. Pull up a chair and join in the fun!

Ignoblegarden - Dr. Boom is tired of eggs and bunnies. According to him, what a holiday really needs to succeed is custom, high-powered explosives. Play around with his adorable Egg-Bombs, but be careful, some of them might be rotten!

Join us April 17-21 for this explosive new Tavern Brawl and earn some awesome rewards!

HCT World Championships – It’s almost time for a new champion of Hearthstone esports to be crowned! Login from April 26 – 28 for daily rewards and play decks used by previous champions in the HCT Tavern Brawl. Be sure to also check out the HCT World Championship live at www.twitch.tv/playhearthstone

Henchmania - The E.V.I.L. league has been assembled! There’s only one thing left to do before they can attempt their heist: hire some henchmen! You, the player, get to fight for the glory of your new evil lords and see if you're tough enough to be a Henchperson!

Hearthstone Update – July 10

In this Hearthstone Update we’re making a balance change to The Caverns Below and opening pre-purchase for Knights of the Frozen Throne, Hearthstone’s next expansion. We’re also changing the type of some minions, adding more card backs, and fixing several bugs.

Read on for details!

  • Pre-purchase for Knights of the Frozen Throne, Hearthstone’s latest expansion, is now available from both the in-game Shop and online! You can pre-purchase 50 card packs and get the Frostmourne card back for $49.99 USD.
  • Pre-purchased card packs and the Frostmourne card back will now appear in-game. Knights of the Frozen Throne card packs can be opened when the expansion is released in August.

  • Balance Update
    • The Caverns Below now reads: Quest: Play five minions with the same name. Reward: Crystal Core.
    • The Caverns Below is uniquely powerful versus several slower, control-oriented decks and is played often enough to push those decks out of play. While deck diversity in Ranked Play is good, a change to The Caverns Below was still warranted to help keep that trend going into the future.
    • The Caverns Below can now be disenchanted for full Arcane Dust value until July 24 PDT.
  • Arena
    • Note: Neutral cards form the basis for draft appearance rates.
    • On average, Arena runs consist of 60% Common, 28% Rare, 10% Epic, and about 2% Legendary cards.
    • Class minions are +100% more common than neutral cards.
    • Class Spells and Weapons are +175% more common than neutral cards.
    • Journey to Un'Goro cards receive an additional +50% increase in their appearance rate.
    • The following cards are unavailable in arena
      • Jungle Giants, The Marsh Queen, Open the Waygate, The Last Kaleidosaur, Awaken the Makers, The Caverns Below, Unite the Murlocs, Lakkari Sacrifice, Fire Plume’s Heart, Klaxxi Amber Weaver, Dark Arakkoa, Cult Sorcerer, Hooded Acolyte, Twilight Darkmender, Blade of C’Thun, Usher of Souls, Ancient Shieldbearer, Twilight Geomancer, Disciple of C’Thun, Twilight Elder, C’Thun’s Chosen, Crazed Worshipper, Skeram Cultist, Twin Emperor Vek’lor, Doomcaller, C’Thun, Dust Devil, Totemic Might, Ancestral Healing, Windspeaker, Sacrificial Pact, Sense Demons, Void Crusher, Succubus, Savagery, Soul of the Forest, Mark of Nature, Warsong Commander, Rampage, Starving Buzzard, Timber Wolf, Snipe, Mind Blast, Lightwell, Purify and Inner Fire.
    • Flamestrike, Abyssal Enforcer, and Vicious Fledgling will appear in drafts 50% less often.
    • Popular cards had small drop rate changes to address class balance concerns. (Note - These changes range from 1-5%. They are small enough that they are unlikely to be noticed during an individual draft, but should have enough cumulative impact to help improve class balance.)
    • We’re working to improve the Arena experience, and your feedback is always appreciated!
  • The following minions are now Elementals:
    • Jade Spirit, Djinni of Zephyrs, Flame of Azzinoth, Mana Geode, and Hallazeal, the Ascended.

Blackrock Mountain: A Hearthstone Adventure

  • Blackrock Mountain has been added and will be accessible starting April 2.
  • Blackrock Mountain is a new single-player Adventure that pits you against challenging NPC (non-player character) adversaries. Blackrock Mountain can be unlocked with gold or real money and can be accessed by players who have unlocked all 9 heroes.
  • Defeat 17 fearsome foes to unlock a total of 31 new Hearthstone cards for your collection, including 5 Legendary cards! Blackrock Mountain cards can easily be searched for within My Collection using the search function.
  • An all-new interactive Blackrock-themed game board awaits you within the Adventure. Discover the surprises that stew in shimmering magma pools, hammer down the fine art of blacksmithing, and more.
  • Overcome 9 nefarious Class Challenges that test your skills with each of the unique classes of Hearthstone.
  • Defeating all of the bosses within a wing unlocks the extremely challenging Heroic Mode of that wing. Defeating all of the bosses of Blackrock Mountain on Heroic mode unlocks a new card back for your collection.
  • Five unique wings await those brave enough to delve into Blackrock Mountain. Each of the five wings are available to purchase with real money or gold, with a new wing unlocking for players to enter each week over the course of April.
    • Blackrock Depths—This sprawling underground city is the stronghold of the Dark Iron dwarves, thriving deep beneath the surface.
    • Molten Core—Face fiery elemental minions in searing magma tunnels at the heart of Blackrock Mountain.
    • Blackrock Spire—Climb to the heights of Blackrock Mountain to invade Nefarian’s domain and square off against ogres, orcs, and dragonkin.
    • Blackwing Lair—Foil the lord of Blackrock by disrupting his attempts to create the perfect draconic minions.

  • Sylvanas will no longer steal a minion that is about to die, which is weird because that’s generally her thing.
  • Vol'jin will no longer destroy itself if the only other minion in play is stealthed.
  • Minions that are spawned from a Deathrattle are now targetable sooner. This will affect the Slime from Sludge Belcher, as well as the spawns from Harvest Golem and the Shredders.
  • General bug fixes and UI improvements.

Patch 2.3.0.8108 Patch Notes

GENERAL

  • Pre-purchase Blackrock Mountain: A Hearthstone Adventure

  • The following card backs have been added:

    • Molten Core – Acquired by pre-purchasing Blackrock Mountain: A Hearthstone Adventure from the in-game store.

Patch 2.2.0.7835 Patch Notes

GENERAL

  • The following card back has been added to Hearthstone:
    • Lunar Card Back: Acquired by reaching Rank 20 or higher in Ranked Play mode during the month of February.
  • When a match you are spectating ends, your client will be put into a waiting state until your friend joins another match. You’ll automatically connect to their next match without having to re-enable Spectator Mode. How convenient!

BUG FIXES

  • Players will now continue to spectate a match even after 30 minutes of inactivity.
  • Cogmaster has taken a break from constructing mechanical menaces and has given himself tune-up! His attack will now properly increase when a Mech is in play, even after his Attack and Health stats have been swapped.

Patch 2.1.0.7628 Patch Notes

General

  • The following card backs have been added to Hearthstone:
    •  Maraad Card Back: Acquired by reaching Rank 20 or higher in Ranked Play mode during the month of January.
  • Card packs in the in-game Shop no longer default to Classic card packs. Players must now manually choose which card packs they would like to buy before making a purchase the first time the Shop is used or with each release of new card sets in the Shop. Once a card pack is purchased, the Shop will default to the last purchased card pack until the next time a new card set is released in the Shop.

Card Changes

  • Undertaker now reads: Whenever you summon a minion with Deathrattle, gain +1 Attack.
    • Undertaker was frustrating to play against. It often gained both attack and health stats significantly above those of other inexpensive minions very early in the game. With this change, we expect Undertaker will still be better than other 1-mana minions when played in a deck with a Deathrattle theme, but more likely to die from combat with other minions.

Bug Fixes

  • Secrets no longer have a delay between their trigger and animation. Poor Noble Sacrifice – it just wants to get down!
  • Addressed an issue that sometimes resulted in player names showing up as Unknown in-game. You’re a player, not a Secret!

Hearthstone Patch Notes – 2.0.0.7234 – Get in Gear with Goblins vs Gnomes – Now Live!

Goblins vs Gnomes, the first expansion to the insanely fun Hearthstone has arrived! Explore inventive, constantly-evolving strategies with 120 explosive new cards. Control powerful Mechs with special weapons and volatile abilities, tinker with minions using spare parts, and even watch your friends’ games in progress with the all-new Spectator Mode.

Purchase Goblins vs Gnomes card packs in the store and answer the age-old question: Which is better…gnomish ingenuity or goblin craftiness?

Goblins vs Gnomes

  • Hearthstone’s first expansion, Goblins vs Gnomes offers over 120 new cards to add to your Hearthstone collection, including all-new class cards and Legendary cards!
  • Start building decks right away - Goblins vs Gnomes cards can be purchased via the in-game shop with gold or real money. Arena rewards now give Goblins vs Gnomes card packs instead of Classic card packs. The better you perform in the Arena, the better your rewards will be!
  • Both golden and non-golden versions of Classic and Goblins vs Gnomes single cards are now also available as Arena rewards.
  • Put your Arcane Dust to use: Both normal and golden Goblins vs Gnomes cards can now be crafted with Arcane Dust. Who wants a golden Explosive Sheep? Everyone.
  • Don’t let Goblins and Gnomes have all the fun building things: All Goblins vs Gnomes cards have been added to the Arena and can be chosen even if you do not have them in your Hearthstone collection.
  • All Goblins vs Gnomes cards can be found easily in My Collection using the search function, and all Goblins vs Gnomes cards have a “gear” watermark in the card text box.
  • Expert card packs have been renamed to “Classic” card packs. Classic card packs are still available to acquire in the in-game Shop as well as through Crafting Mode.
  • New minion type “Mech” has been added. Use Mechs along with other Mechs for surprising (often devastating) results!
  • An all-new interactive Goblins vs Gnomes-themed game board has been added. Turn the gears, wind the springs, and try not to blow anything up in the process. We warned you.

General

  • Spectator Mode has been added. Watch your friends play through their games of Hearthstone and observe their epic victories all with the click of a button! Spectator Mode is accessed through the Friends list by clicking on the “Spectate Match” button next to your friend’s name.
  • A new card pack bundle has been added to the in-game Shop for PC and Mac.

Card Changes

  • Flare now costs 2 mana, up from 1.
    • Flare allowed the Hunter an advantage versus decks that revolve around Secrets, while also allowing the Hunter to draw a card for little cost. We want to encourage a variety of decks in Hearthstone. With this change, Flare will continue to be useful against Secrets decks, but will be weaker against other decks.
  • Gadgetzan Auctioneer now costs 6 mana, up from 5.
    • Gadgetzan Auctioneer’s ability allows for a player to potentially draw many cards for little cost. Card draw and card advantage are important to the game – overall, games are less interesting when a player draws their entire deck. This change brings Gadgetzan Auctioneer’s cost more in line with its power level.
  • Soulfire now costs 1 mana, up from 0.
    • Soulfire, along with fast and powerful minions, allowed Warlock rush decks to get ahead on the board and stay ahead. We’ve upped Soulfire’s mana cost by 1 to slow down the Warlock rush deck just a bit and allow more players time to react and interact against the Warlock.

Bug Fixes

  • The left-most enemy minion can once again be targeted on a full board if Counterspell counters a Secret.
  • Nozdormu, self-proclaimed “Master of Time”, once again gives players 15 seconds a round instead of 30.
  • Blood Imps will no longer target Imp Masters with no life left. It’s dead, Jim.
  • Baron Rivendare in the Naxxramas Adventure has fixed his heater and will no longer cast Frostbolt on himself.
  • Faceless Manipulators will now copy the Echoing Ooze as well as its effect.
  • Faceless Manipulators will now copy the Echoing Ooze as well as its effect.
  • Faceless Manipulator now functions properly when targeting minions with Enrage that refuse to follow the rules.
  • Druid of the Claw is embracing his wild side and now becomes a Beast minion type upon switching Cat Form or Bear Form.
  • Multiple mechanical minions have been upgraded to Mechs, unlocking additional synergy with other Goblins vs Gnome cards: Harvest Golem, Damaged Golem, Alarm-o-Bot, Demolisher, Mechanical Dragonling, and all of Gelbin Mekkatorque’s AWESOME inventions.
  • Kel’thuzad’s mastery of undeath has been tempered and it will no longer resurrect itself after perishing at the hands of Ragnaros the Firelord.
  • Gnomes have been hard at work fixing Goblin “upgrades”, forcing our engineers to step in and fix the fixes that the gnomes “fixed”.  Ultimately, a number of display issues and other bugs have been resolved.

Hearthstone Patch 1.2.0.6485 Patch Notes

Card Changes

  • Leeroy Jenkins (Neutral) now costs 5 (up from 4)
    • Leeroy Jenkins created a strategy that revolved around trying to defeat your opponent in one turn without requiring any cards on the board. We like having a variety of deck types but taking 20+ damage in one turn is not very fun or interactive.
    • The amount of dust that you get from disenchanting Leeroy Jenkins has been temporarily increased such that it is equal to the amount of dust that it would have originally cost to craft it.
  • Starving Buzzard (Hunter) now costs 5 (up from 2) and now has 3 Attack and 2 Health (up from 2 Attack and 1 Health)
    • The amount of cards Starving Buzzard allowed Hunter players to draw ultimately ended up being too excessive for its low cost. This change will allow the Hunter’s opponent more time to react to both the Starving Buzzard and the cards drawn by its power.

Bug Fixes

  • Hired gnomish engineers to improve the in-game chat bubbles to reduce clipping.
  • Resolved various bugs and issues.

The remaining four wings are immediately available for players to unlock with real money or gold, and will become accessible over a period of time once unlocked.
    • The Arachnid Quarter – A web choked maze filled with many-legged minions.

    • After much consideration, we have decided to increase the mana cost of Unleash the Hounds to 3. Unleash the Hounds has been dominating all levels of play for quite some time. This change should make the card more fun to play against while still allowing for some big plays when combined with other Hunter cards.

Bug Fixes

Patch 1.0.0.4944

General

  • Golden Heroes have been added and now can be unlocked after winning 500 Ranked games with a Hero! Track your progress on the deck selection screen in Ranked Mode.
  • New card backs have been added.  Collect these by doing awesome things such as participating in each Ranked Season!
  • The Hearthsteed mount reward has been added and can now be obtained for your World of Warcraft account! Win 3 games in Play or Arena mode to acquire one of your own!
  • You can now connect to other regions (Americas, Europe, Korea, Taiwan) of Hearthstone regardless of the region that is set on your Battle.net account. Account progress and card collections are saved separately per region. This feature will become available once the patch is live in all regions.
  • The “Players Near Me” feature is now enabled by default.  You can disable this feature in the Options Menu.
  • The queue timer now only shows up after you’ve been waiting a while.
  • The total amount of gold that an account can hold at any given time has been set at 20,000 gold; gold cannot be earned on accounts with 20,000 or more gold until some gold has been spent.  This cap is intended to combat certain methods of gold acquisition that violate our Terms of Service. The spirit of fair play is extremely important to us, and we will continue to monitor gold acquisition activity closely to ensure a fun and enjoyable game environment for everyone.
  • Certain Expert cards have been changed and the amount of dust that you get from disenchanting these cards have been temporarily increased such that it is equal to the amount of dust that it would have originally cost to craft those cards. Affected cards are:
    • Nat Pagle
    • Tinkmaster Overspark

Ranked Play

  • During each Ranked Season change, players may now start the new season at a rank higher than the default Angry Chicken rank, depending on the rank that was obtained at the end of the previous season. You’ll receive one bonus star for every rank you achieved in the previous season.
  • The Angry Chicken rank now starts with 0 stars, instead of 1. Bawk!?

Arena

  • Arena rewards at 10, 11, and 12 wins no longer reward common non-golden cards.

Visuals

  • Many new card effects have been added. +3 Sparkles/+5 Shinies.
  • Minions who have Taunt and Stealth now have an effect that more clearly indicates that Taunt is temporarily disabled during Stealth.
  • Mass disenchanting now has new and improved graphics. Now you can mass disenchant in style!
  • The UI that pops up when challenging a friend to a duel has been improved. Wow, so challenge.
  • Minions that have been blessed by Blessing of Wisdom now show the trigger “lightning bolt”. Talk about a bright idea!

Gameplay

  • If you disconnect from a game, you now have 60 seconds to try and reconnect and pick up from where you left off.
  • The Expert AI has been sent to Hearthstone training camp and should now be more challenging.
  • If a player’s deck contains all Golden cards, a Golden Coin will compliment your deck if you happen to go second.
  • Unlocking a hero now plays that Hero’s emote. Well met!
  • Secrets can now only activate on your opponent’s turn.
    • Activating your own secrets feels a little strange, but mostly, the ability to do this was preventing us from creating new and powerful secrets that trigger off of events you can easily control (like a minion dying).  They end up functioning just like spells, instead of trying to bait your opponent into a bad play.  This change keeps secrets working like traps you lay for your opponent, instead of spells that you cast and use on your own turn.

Card Changes

  • Nat Pagle now reads: At the start of your turn, you have a 50% chance to draw an extra card.
    • Nat Pagle will now draw a card at the start of your turn rather than at the end. Nat had too much draw power for a card that is fairly hard to counter so early in the game, making it almost an auto-include for many decks.  This change reduces the power of the card and gives players more time to counter the card before it starts.
  • Tinkmaster Overspark is now a 3/3 (up from 2/2) and now reads: Battlecry: Transform another random minion into a 5/5 Devilsaur or a 1/1 Squirrel.
    • Tinkmaster is a neutral card that silences and often shrinks big creatures. This reduces the amount of big, fun creatures in the environment. We think this change will increase the amount fun creatures in the environment, and bring him more in-line with his cost and overall power. Tinkmaster should still show up in certain types of decks, but will no longer be appearing in every high level deck.

Bug Fixes

  • Water Elemental (Mage) will now properly freeze armored heroes as intended.
  • Ancestral Healing (Shaman) will now always attempt to heal a minion for its full Health regardless of its current Health.
  • The issue where minions randomly swap battle positions with other minions is a result of many factors and issues. All known circumstances and issues that result in minions dancing randomly around have been resolved.
  • Cards now better respect personal space while in a player’s hand. Similar to the minion swapping issue, all known circumstances and issues that result in cards overlapping with other cards in a player’s hand have been resolved.
  • The New Deck button in the Collection Manager no longer stays highlighted if you quickly click the Done and No buttons after selecting a hero.
  • The Hearthstone client will no longer remain in the foreground when you click on another program.
  • You can now select a friend in the friends list by clicking on their medal in Play mode.
  • If you were playing a friendly game when daily quests were granted, you are now correctly notified after the game.
  • The Repair Bot's healing ability now generates an entry in the game history.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the buttons to stop working for a short moment when transitioning back to the main hub.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented some accounts from properly receiving friendly challenges.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented some accounts from joining Play, Practice or Friendly games if they have a custom deck in their collection.
  • Fixed an issue where entering a new Arena run while getting a new daily quest can cause the Arena purchase and the back buttons to be unresponsive.
  • Fixed an issue where you will receive a toast stating your friend has just come online if you log into Hearthstone and that friend was already online.
  • Fixed an issue where attempting to create a new deck would cause the game to time out after about a minute.
  • Fixed an issue where backing out of a deck list while its deck tile is animating to the top of the list will cause the deck list buttons to become unresponsive.
  • Fixed an issue where cards opened in packs or earned from defeating heroes may not appear in your collection after restarting the client.
  • Fixed an issue where clicking on the Last Played player area in friends list opens up the Add a Friend prompt without automatically filling in the player's BattleTag.
  • Fixed an issue where the credits can be played while in the Today's Quests screen.
  • Improved many graphical effects and fixed various graphical and game behavior issues.

  • Loading into a game will no longer cause graphical issues while on high graphics settings.
  • The system menu bar will no longer display over the client in full screen mode.
  • Using Alt + Tab to switch focus while in full screen mode will no longer cause the dock to appear over the client.

  • Fixed an issue where the client was not accurately reflecting the amount of mana used for spells or minions that had their mana cost reduced.
  • Improved board gravity to fix an issue where opposing minions appeared to be face up near the opponent’s hand after being cast rather than placed on the game board.
  • Fixed an issue where some players were unable to access Practice Mode.
  • Restored justice to the Sword of Justice so it once again functions properly under all circumstances.
  • Fixed an issue where some players were experiencing a client crash when completing an Arena run.

  • Fixed a number of audio and sound issues.

Mac

  • Toggling full screen mode on some resolutions and monitors will no longer cause the window borders to be visible.
  • Fixed a graphical issue that could occur when changing resolutions.

General
  • Resolved some issues that were introduced with the previous patch that exacerbated the frequency in which minions arbitraily swapped places with other minions on the board. This issue is not yet fully resolved but should now be less prevalent than it was with patch 1.0.0.4458.

Patch 1.0.0.4458 Patch Notes

General

  • Certain Expert cards have been changed and the amount of dust that you get from disenchanting these cards have been temporarily increased such that it is equal to the amount of dust that it would have originally cost to craft those cards. Affected cards are:
    • Abusive Sergeant
    • Blood Imp
    • Dark Iron Dwarf
    • Defender of Argus
    • Pyroblast
    • Sylvanas Windrunner
    • Unleash the Hounds

Hunter

  • Unleash the Hounds now costs 2 (down from 4)
    • Unleash the Hounds was intended to give Hunters their own form of AoE and to have synergy with other beast cards, but its old cost was too prohibitive.

Mage

  • Pyroblast now costs 10 (up from 8)
    • The 8-cost Pyroblast made for an un-interactive experience where the Mage only needed to do 10 damage during the course of a game and then double Pyroblast you for the win.   We want Mages to be more interactive with the opponent to achieve victory, rather than delay the game until they can Pyroblast.

Warlock

  • Blood Imp is now a 0/1 (down from 1/1) and now reads: Stealth. At the end of your turn, give another random friendly minion +1 Health.
    • The Warlock has three very strong 1-cost minions and that made the Warlock rush deck slightly stronger than we were comfortable with.

Warrior

  • Warsong Commander has been reworked and now reads: Whenever you play a minion with 3 or less Attack, give it Charge.
  • Charge (the spell, not the keyword) has been reworked and now costs 3 mana. The card’s new power reads:  “Give a friendly minion +2 Attack and Charge”.
    • Both of these cards were key components in “One Turn Kill” or “OTK” decks that kill your opponent in one turn without requiring any cards on the board.   We want the game to be about playing minions and fighting for board control rather than just waiting until you can play your big combo and win in one turn with no interaction from your opponent.

Neutral

  • Abusive Sergeant now reads Battlecry: Give a minion +2 Attack until end of turn
    • Abusive Sergeant was changed to make his power the same as the new Dark Iron Dwarf and to give it additional versatility.
  • Dark Iron Dwarf now reads Battlecry: Give a minion +2 Attack until end of turn
    • This change was made to reduce the Dark Iron Dwarf’s overall power slightly. We also wanted to make the Battlecry effect the same as Abusive Sergeant‘s as to not force you to permanently buff one of your opponent’s creatures.
  • Defender of Argus is now a 2/3 (down from 3/3)
    • Defender of Argus was a card that found itself automatically included in many decks due to its power and stats.  We want players to have an option of what cards they put in their decks, so cards that feel like they must be in all decks (especially Neutral ones) are not ideal.
  • Novice Engineer is now a 1/1 (down from 1/2)
    • The Novice Engineer was played in most non-rush decks (and even some rush decks) due to its cost and power. Similar in reasoning to our Defender of Argus change, we want players to have an option of what cards they put in their decks.
  • Sylvanas Windrunner now costs 6 (up from 5)
    • Sylvanas had power and stats that made it a bit too powerful compared to other 5-cost cards, which made it automatically included in many decks.  We want players to have an option of what cards they put in their decks, so cards that feel like they must be in all decks (especially Neutral ones) are not ideal.

General

  • Certain Expert cards have been changed and the amount of dust that you get from disenchanting these cards have been temporarily increased such that it is equal to the amount of dust that it would have originally cost to craft those cards. Affected cards are:
    • Blizzard
    • Cone of Cold

Mage

  • We understand that the Freeze mechanic can be frustrating to play against, and we wanted to make changes that would allow the Mage’s opponent some additional time to be aggressive with their minions and well as slow the overall pacing of the control-based Mage play style.
  • Blizzard’s mana cost is now 6 (up from 5).
  • Cone of Cold’s mana cost is now 4 (up from 3).
  • Frost Nova’s mana cost is now 3 (up from 2).

Bug Fixes

  • Resolved an issue where certain account states could prevent new Arena runs from being started. Previously impacted accounts should now be able to properly start new Arena runs.

General

  • You are now able to abandon one quest per day. When you abandon a quest, you’ll receive a new, random quest in its place.
  • New Feature: Recently played Opponent – Your friends list now displays the last person you played against, provided they were not a Real ID or BattleTag friend. If you had a particularly great match against someone, you can now friend them for future play!
  • New Feature: Players Near Me - You can now opt-in to seeing other Hearthstone players on your local network in your friends list.
  • Parental controls can now disable in-game Shop purchases.
  • You now have the option to keep the sound playing while the game is running in the background.
  • The amount of gold gained by winning games in Play mode per day is now capped at 100. This cap does not affect gold gained through Quests, Arena, or Achievements. There will now be an indication within the game when this gold cap is reached. This cap is intended to combat certain methods of gold acquisition that violate our Terms of Service. The spirit of fair play is extremely important to us, and we will continue to monitor gold acquisition activity closely to ensure a fun and enjoyable game environment for everyone.

Ranking

  • The Ranked play system has been completely redone
    • There are now month long seasons that reset at the end of each month
    • There are new ranks and minion portraits for all levels of play
    • You earn a star for each win and lose one for each loss and your stars determine your rank
    • Players who get to top rank of legend and are in the top 10,000 players have their exact region-wide ranking displayed
    • There will be rewards for playing ranked mode in the future, but they were not implemented with this patch, and will be added at a future date.

Arena

  • The number of matches you can win in Arena has increased to 12 (up from 9).
  • Arena rewards have been restructured.

Gameplay

  • General
    • All Golden cards are now animated.
    • The visual effects of some cards have been improved.
      • Ysera now summons her Dream cards directly from the Emerald Dream!
      • King Krush now makes a dinosauric appearance when played!
      • Al’Akir the Windlord now rides into battle on the tempest itself!
  • Hunter
    • Unleash the Hounds has been reworked and now reads: “(4) For each enemy minion, summon a 1/1 Hound with Charge”.
      • The previous version of this card was allowing Hunters to win in a single turn, starting with no minions on the board. The new version should give hunters some fun new card combinations and bolster their AoE ability.
      • Temporarily increased the amount of dust that you get from disenchanting Unleash the Hounds such that it is equal to the amount of dust that it would have originally cost to craft Unleash the Hounds.
    • Starving Buzzard is now a 2/1 (was a 2/2).
      • At some ranks, Hunter was too strong against Mage, Druid and Rogue. This change to Starving Buzzard helps even the playing field against those classes.
  • Priest
    • Mind Control’s mana cost is now 10 (up from 8).
      • Mind Control was frustrating to play against. Players worked to summon their powerful minions and not only lose the minion but die to that same minion the next turn. This change will give you a couple more turns to play with your Ragnaros.
  • Warlock
    • Flame Imp’s Battlecry now deals 3 damage (up from 2).
      • This minor change should help bring the warlock’s early game down a small amount.  We’re keeping our eye on other cards that help the Warlock maintain early board advantage and will make additional changes if necessary in a future patch.
      • Temporarily increased the amount of dust that you get from disenchanting Flame Imp such that it is equal to the amount of dust that it would have originally cost to craft Flame Imp.
  • Neutral
    • Argent Commander is now a 4/2 (was a 4/3).
      • Argent Commander is played more often than we’d like, so we are reducing its power slightly to increase the variety of cards being played.
      • Temporarily increased the amount of dust that you get from disenchanting Argent Commander such that it is equal to the amount of dust that it would have originally cost to craft Argent Commander.
    • Shattered Sun Cleric is now a 3/2 (was a 3/3).
      • Shattered Sun Cleric is keeping the creature rush decks healthy enough to avoid many board clearing spells. By reducing the Health by 1, this leaves Shattered Sun Cleric a bit more vulnerable while still remaining strong.
    • The golden version of the Elite Tauren Chieftain has been added to collections of those who attended BlizzCon 2013 or who purchased a Virtual Ticket.
      • If this card does not show up, make sure the code found on the back of the digital items card found in the badge holder, or sent to you with a purchase of the Virtual Ticket, has been added to your Battle.net Account.

UI

  • The chat UI has received additional improvements.
  • Your player rank (icon and number) is now visible in the friends list, the versus screen and your BattleTag in-game.
  • The PrintScreen key now takes a screenshot of your game and saves it to your desktop.
  • Custom art has been added to headers for each class in the collection manager.
  • The toggle between Casual and Ranked Play modes is now more explicit.
  • The art has been updated for the box and pack opening screens.

Bug Fixes

  • Alexstrasza’s ability no longer counts as a healing effect when raising the target’s health to 15 and will not affect Armor when lowering health to 15.
  • Fixed an issue where Truesilver Champion could trigger twice from one attack.
  • Faceless Manipulator will now properly copy all buffs on a minion.
  • Fixed an issue where replacing your hero with Lord Jaraxxus counted as a minion death.
  • Fixed a visual issue where casting Mass Dispel while multiple global buffs were active was not updating the stats correctly.
  • Fixed various issues involving the use of Tracking.
  • Fixed an issue where Fatigue damage triggering Ice Block caused the client to halt.
  • Playing a minion during Brawl’s animation no longer causes client issues.
  • Freeze should now always properly cause the affected minion or Hero to miss its next attack phase.
  • Fixed various issues involving the mechanic of returning cards to a player’s hand.
  • Minions returning to the board from resurrection effects no longer trigger secrets.
  • Fixed various issues resulting from viewing the credits.
  • The cinematic can now be viewed multiple times from the Game Menu.
  • Fixes various issues where twinkling sound effects would loop.
  • Using the “<” or “>” symbols while naming decks no longer causes client issues.
  • The Coin now displays the correct highlight as it enters your hand.
  • The warning message for disenchanting cards should now appear at the appropriate times.
  • Green highlights around minions are now updating correctly.
  • Golden cards earned in the Arena now appear with the correct border on the reward screen.
  • Fixed multiple spelling and grammatical errors in card flavor text.

Warrior

  • Battle Rage now costs 2 (down from 3) and now only counts friendly characters.
  • Temporarily increased the amount of dust that you get from disenchanting Battle Rage such that it is equal to the amount of dust that it would have originally cost to craft Battle Rage.

Bug Fixes

  • General

    • Fixed an issue where using the spacebar to rapidly open packs made it so you couldn’t view all your cards.
    • Unlocking Advanced Collections in crafting mode will no longer cause players to become stuck in crafting mode.
    • Opened chat windows no longer overlap challenges from friends.
    • Credits roll properly when viewed in any mode.
  • Cards
    • Playing Druid of the Claw while Snipe is active no longer causes the client to halt.

General

  • The maximum level is now 60, and you can earn XP in any game mode up to max level.
  • Chat has been rejiggered.
